On Wednesday January 29, 2003 there was a reunion of the American International Racing
(AIR) team at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. The premise of this gathering, arranged by Bruce Meyer,
Chairman of the Petersen, was to
get the original producers of James Garner's movie "The Racing Scene" together with the drivers
and team members for a dinner and viewing of the 1969 classic. A crowd of about 400 were in
attendance, including James Garner, Parnelli Jones, Carroll Shelby, and much of the original AIR
team: Davey Jordan, Dick Guldstrand, Scooter Patrick, Lothar Motschenbacher, Don Rabbitt, Tom and
Linda Jacobson, Paul "Moose" Yaros, and others. The film production side had director Andy Sidaris (of Wide World of Sports fame),
producer Barry Scholer, and writer William Edgar represented, among others. Many of these people had not seen each other in 30 years,
and it was an emotion filled evening to say the least, with James Garner being a gracious and appreciative host.
Incredibly nice people, the sharing of old stories, and an interesting film truly made the evening one to remember.
